Sawtry Archaeology is a group within Sawtry History Society that is committed to investigating the archaeological record of Sawtry and neighbouring communities, and presenting interpreted findings in the public domain in order to enrich the communal heritage.  As a community activity, community engagement is fundamental to the archaeological undertakings carried out by Sawtry Archaeology, whether it be excavation, field survey or post-excavation analysis; all of which provide opportunities to experience both direct tangible and indirect on-line interaction with items of local and neighbouring heritage spanning numerous historical periods.  As a commodity, the communal heritage of Sawtry and neighbouring communities is of cultural value by providing residents with a sense of place and context, and contributes with educational and academic values with which the younger generations learn about the collective history of Sawtry and surrounding communities.
