Bite Size Articles on the Visible Historic Landscape of Sawty
A short series of bite size articles on the visible historic landscape features within the civil parish of Sawtry is in the process of being written. This collection is not intended to be authoritative or even academic, but informative. The idea behind the articles is to highlight those visible historic landscape features within Sawtry civil parish that are tangible reminders of the rich and expansive heritage that Sawtry has. Each article gives focus on a specific feature, including contextualization within the broader landscape where necessary, and includes a reference of publications that provided the source material for that particular article; which also serves as a list of further reading for those who wish to learn more about that particular feature. Articles are not presented in any particular chronological order.
The first such article, 'The Government Pipelines and Storage System (GPSS)' can be found on the 17-2 Sawtry Archaeological Record project page at Annex G, Appendix 4, Attachment 1.1.
The second article in the series, 'Woodland, Field Boundaries and Earthworks' can be found on the 17-2 Sawtry Archaeological Record project page at Annex G, Appendix 4, Attachment 1.2.
